THE New Theatre, Cardiff, will be showing the world stage premiere of courtroom thriller The Verdict from Tuesday, February 7 to Saturday, February 11.

Frank Galvin is a washed up veteran lawyer and an alcoholic. He is presented with one last chance to redeem himself when he is given an open-and-shut medical malpractice case that no one thinks he can win.

Up against the medical establishment and the Catholic Church, he refuses an out of court settlement and instead takes the case and the entire legal system to court.

The Verdict stars British actors Clive Mantle and Jack Shepherd.

Clive plays Frank Galvin and has been a household favourite for more than three decades, with regular roles in hit television series Robin Of Sherwood, The Vicar Of Dibley, Mount Pleasant, White Van Man, Game of Thrones and Dr Mike Barratt in both Casualty and Holby City.

Clive was most recently seen at the New Theatre in The Ladykillers and as Welsh comedian Tommy Cooper in 2010.

Jack Shepherd has had a career spanning more than 50 years in theatre, television and film.

His awards include a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award, a Plays and Players London Critics’ Award, and a Time Out Award.

He is probably best known for his portrayal of Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe in the television series Wycliffe. Jack most recently performed at the New Theatre in Classic Ghosts and in 6 Characters in Search of an Author in 2009.

The Verdict is the latest production from Middle Ground Theatre.

Clive Mantle and Jack Shepherd lead a cast of 14 in the first theatrical production of the story made famous by the five times Oscar nominated Sidney Lumet film with Paul Newman, Charlotte Rampling and James Mason.

Tickets cost from £11 to £29, please note bookings are subject to a ticketing service charge.
