AN INNOVATIVE Barry film club will have its premiere at the Memo Arts Centre (MAC) on Wednesday, October 26.
Cine-Venture, the Memo’s new monthly Relaxed Film Club, will launch thanks to a partnership between the Memo Arts Centre, working in partnership with Innovate Trust and Film Hub Wales.
Cine-Venture will be offering the audience an opportunity to enjoy the latest blockbusters and specialised films, with a meet and greet session before and after the films to discuss the film.
There will also be the opportunity to enter competitions, critique the films and enjoy a new social activity.
A MAC spokeswoman said: “Our project aims to supporting individuals with their carers to become independent cinema goers.
“Our relaxed film screenings welcome people with an autism spectrum condition, sensory or communication disorders, learning disabilities, and anyone who would benefit from a relaxed environment or just wants to see the film on that day at that time.”
She added: “Relaxed Screenings have a less formal and supportive atmosphere in order to reduce anxiety levels. There is a relaxed attitude to audience noise and movement; we lower the sound level and maintain low lighting during the screening, which also benefits from reduced advertising material.”
Cine-Venture will feature one to two screenings a month, including blockbuster titles, all-time greats and specialised films.
The Cine-Venture film screenings will providing an arrival space with a club pre-film forum.

Forthcoming screenings are The BFG (PG) Wednesday, October 26 from 12pm to 12.25pm for the meet and greet, with the film screening from 12.30pm.
The Magnificent Seven (12A) is on Wednesday, November 2 from 12pm to 12.25pm for the meet and greet, with the film screening from 12.30pm.
