VISITORS to Barry’s Wartime Weekend are set to be dazzled by dancers, presentations, singers, performers and even an Only Menopause Allowed choir.

The annual event, at Barry Island, will feature a full programme of events on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4.

There will be Forties fashion parades, Second World War veterans, a ‘40s choir, model planes, Royal British Legion riders, a variety of stalls, charity tables, sea cadets and First World War and Second World War presentations.

The entertainment begins at the Barry War Museum, at Barry Island railway station, at 10.15am on Saturday with a flag raising outside NAAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes).

There follows singers, Lindy Hoppers, interviews with veterans and a ukulele performance as well as screenings of the First World War nostalgia film Letters Home.

A closing ceremony – involving the lowering of flags outside NAAFI – will take place at 4.30pm.

The flag will be raised again, outside NAAFI, at 10.15am on Sunday.

Only Menopause Allowed at the promenade, weather permitting, at 12pm and in the stage door canteen at 1.15pm and on the station platform at 2.15pm.

The Wartime Weekend ends at 4pm after the flags are lowered at 3.30pm.
