DIG out your roller skates, scooters, skateboards and unicycles for some wacky races charity-style at The Knap, Barry, on Sunday, August 21.

The SAFE Foundation is inviting all to take part in its headline event – The Unicycle Challenge – from 12pm to 4pm.

There will be live music, competitions, and a water fight at the event which will see all proceeds going to the charity.

Fancy dress is encouraged.

Races around the harp-shaped lake will take place all afternoon and entries will need to be pre-booked.

Races include a children's push bike mini race, ages six to 13; a skateboard race; ages 10 plus and an under six-years-of-age, plus mum/dad freestyle wheels mini race.

The Paddle Board Lake race, pre-booked, will feature a roller blade race for those aged 10 and over; a scooter race for six to 18-year-olds, the Unicycle Challenge and some wacky races with parents and children on bikes clad in fancy dress.

Races cost £2 to enter.

Wet sponges are available for 50 pence.

The Friendship Tree will feature team competitions from 1pm with teams of six competing in sports day classics including the egg and spoon, three-legged, and sack races.

Barry Fire Service have joined forces with SAFE to assist in the water fight area and the charity hopes the Knap Gardens first host a slip ‘n’ slide all afternoon.

Closing ceremony awards will be held at 4pm.
