TO CELEBRATE the centenary year of Roald Dahl’s birth, Film Hub Wales and Chapter have teamed-up to put on themed events across Wales.

A family friendly film programme will head to the Paget Rooms, Dinas Powys Community Cinema and Chapter and the Norwegian Church in Cardiff.

The programme will appeal to audiences of all ages, featuring his classics like James and the Giant Peach and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Lesser-known screenplays such as Gremlins, which was inspired by Gremlin Gus and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are also being shown.

Venues across Wales are putting on far from average events, ranging from interactive scratch ‘n’ sniff screenings of Matilda to celebrate the film’s 20th year anniversary to film inspired creative family workshops.

Events will also cater to an adult audience, with films such as Night Digger and episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Celebrations will begin on Friday, July 22 at Chapter in Cardiff before events start across Wales.

The Paget Rooms will host a fun filled day on August 6 with Roald Dahl-inspired screenings.

The project is taking place with the support of the BFI (British Film Institute), which has awarded National Lottery funding, and in collaboration with the Roald Dahl Estate, which is marking the centenary with the Roald Dahl 100, a year packed full of exciting surprises and treats.
