BARRY’S biggest community festival will make its sixth appearance this weekend as Cadstock 2016 hits Victoria Park, on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17.

Ten local bands will flock to the park stage to bring music-lovers some supercharged pop and rock.

Organiser Jon Greatrex said: “It’s all coming together now and I’m hoping the weekend will be full of great music, and be another chilled out party in the park for the whole community. Cadstock has become one of the best friendly music festivals in the whole of South Wales and it’s something that the people of Cadoxton are rightly proud of. We love welcoming all the people of Barry and all our visitors to Victoria Park for Cadstock and I hope everyone has a super weekend.”

Rock band Outback kick off proceedings at 1pm with hard-hitting drummer Rhys and the band playing great rock covers.

Whitehall Parade, an eight-piece piece original rootsy rock band made up of musicians from Cardiff and the Vale, who write and perform all their own music.

The Flares return to Cadstock again this year, with some classy Barry musicians.

Covers from The Beatles, The Small Faces, The Rolling Stones Beach Boys and The Kinks are set to put some perkiness in into your paisley shirt and get your flares flapping.

They will be followed on stage by Killerstate led by old mate and frontman Darren Sheppard.

The will be letting loose with some alternative, punk and rock covers.

Saturday comes to a close with one of the Vales hottest bands - Brother Steve – as the headliners.

Sunday kicks off again with the first set at 1pm from Lost in Chemistry with some original songs and classic.

Second up are soul, funk and groove purveyors Get Ready featuring Suzi Chunk.

Black Jam Circus, a South Wales based originals band. Influenced by ska, reggae and indie rock, pop in at 3pm.

And at 4pm Barry’s finest Britpop band Modifi, will be playing classics from Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Suede, The Stone Roses and many more.

The festival closes with a set from the perennial favourite band, The Underdogs.

Festival-goers are invited to follow a 60’s and 70’s festival gear dress code.

And bouncy castles, activities, craft stalls, ice creams, refreshments will cater for the crowd with Bro Radio providing entertainment.

Mack Events will host a bar area and hold a raffle to win the last remaining tickets for GlastonBarry, the best tribute festival in the UK, at Romilly Park on July 30 and July 31.
