AN award-winning chef will be cooking a gourmet Indian feast for The Fig Tree, Penarth on January 20.

Mumbai-born Stephen Gomes has gained a place among the most respected chefs in the UK thanks to his innovative take on Indian cuisine, and his spectacular signature dishes. He has won Best UK Indian chef seven times, and was awarded the Indian Chef of the Year accolade at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2015, popularly know as the chefs’ Oscars. He was also delighted to represent Wales on BBC2’s Great British Menu.

Mr Gomes has also cooked for many famous people, among them former USA president, George Bush.

Mike Caplan-Hill, who runs the Fig Tree with his partner, Sandie Guppy says, “Stephen is a great innovator, being the first to pioneer the use of liquid nitrogen in dishes. However, the most important thing is that his food tastes fantastic as he uses the most exotic of spices and herbs to flavour his dishes. Each of Stephen’s creations is totally unique. We are all looking forward to working with him for his extravaganza at the Fig Tree.”

The evening costs £55 per person. To book a table please contact The Fig Tree on 029 2070512.
