Then on Tuesday, January 19, prepare to be welcomed to the devilishly dazzling “carnevil” The Circus of Horrors.

But don’t expect to sample sugary candyfloss and win a fish in a bag here. The National Concert Hall of Wales is set to be transformed into a terrifying Victorian England circus for one night only for a bloodcurdlingly bizarre show.

Hot on the heels of the success of last year’s show The Night of the Zombie comes the latest instalment in the smash-hit series, Welcome to the Carnevil. Not only does it mark the 21st anniversary of the popular franchise, but it also celebrates the world of the wonderful weird and freakishly funny. But beware, it’s not for the faint-hearted.

In 2011, The Circus of Horrors stormed to the Semi-Finals of Britain’s Got Talent and subsequently conquered the West End before becoming household names across the nation’s TV screens.

The gruesome group first sprang to action at Glastonbury in 1995, and have since established themselves as huge hits on the festival scene sharing the stage with goth-rockers Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper, as well as British bands like Oasis and Manic Street Preachers.

Set in 1899 during a nightmarish time when Jack the Ripper is at large and the ‘Freakshow’ is a popular attraction, a young girl dreams of running away to the circus. Yet, what she actually ventures upon is a decaying and corpse-ridden ‘Carnevil’ plagued by a swamp of killer clowns, sword Swallowers, demon dwarves, death-defying aerialists, a Guinness World Record-holding ‘Hairculian’ diva swinging solely from her hair plus back-flipping, fire-limboing acrobats.

Please note The Circus of Horrors is unsuitable for children.

Tickets cost £18, £21 and £25 plus a £2.95 Ticket Service Charge per transaction and an optional 95p postage fee.
