ST David’s Hall will present two great afternoons of music with the first on Sunday, January 10 with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and Rebecca Evans. On Tuesday, January 12 the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Symphony Orchestra will perform.

On Sunday at 3pm, under the masterful guidance of Conductor Lothar Koenigs, the WNO Orchestra deliver a fascinating insight into the awe-inspiring music from the beginning and end of Strauss' life.

The concert opens with the 24-year-old composer's swashbuckling heroic portrait of the world's most famous lover, Don Juan, followed by the melting beauty of the autumnal Four Last Songs composed some 60 years later.

Mahler's Fourth Symphony is both classical and song-like and portrays a child's view of heaven. Suitably it provides an epic finale to this concert.

Sharing the stage with the WNO Orchestra is acclaimed Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans.

Celebrate the spirit of Strauss with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra at the National Concert Hall of Wales.

Tickets for the evening cost £7.50 to £39.50, plus a £2.95 Ticket Service Charge per transaction and an optional 95p postage fee.

On Tuesday at 1pm, get ready for an intergalactic orchestral adventure as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Symphony Orchestra.

The exciting ensemble will perform Holst’s The Planets in all its magnificent beauty.

Conversely, the orchestra will also provide a fascinating glimpse into the sad and sweet soul of Edward Elgar with a masterful rendition of Sospiri Op 70.

Supported by The John Lewis Partnership, this compelling concert is once again conducted by the acclaimed David Jones.

The new autumn and winter 2015/16 Lunchtime Concerts season at offers a sensational series of soothing shows that will provide the perfect chance to unwind amid the sounds of serene strings and piano keys.
