BARRY Island Station will host the annual Toy and Train Sale on Sunday, August 2.

This is the only event of this type at the venue in 2015, although collectors may rest assured that arrangements are in hand at this venue for next year, owing to the popularity of the show, which is held within the buildings and on the platforms and under the large canopy of this superb former Barry Railway Co. station.

Barry Island is the only Railway Show which takes place on the circuit. The Toy and Train Sale will also be at Barry Leisure Centre on Saturday, September 27 then at Penarth Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 10.

Barry Island Station has proved a big hit with the public in recent years and the unique atmosphere helps to create a special day alongside all of the seaside attractions on offer. The station boasts an excellent in-house cafe and the mainline station is on the same site so visitors can travel by rail from all over the area. The Barry Tourist Railway will also be operating their own trains during the show.

Organiser Chris Dyer said this week, “Barry Island attracts a great range of traders from both sides of the Severn Bridge and a wonderful array of stock is always available from all the big names such as Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, EFE, Tri-ang, Hornby, Lima, Wrenn, Bachmann etc. In the current economic climate, prices have never been keener and it is an ideal time to build up collections at budget prices. Traders are also very keen to buy and to exchange so do bring along your surplus items. We are very grateful to John Buxton and the Railway for making their excellent facilities available to us, once per year”.

The Sale will run from 10.30am until 3pm and for more information please visit chrisdyerfairs.co.uk.
