BIG Mac's Wholly Soul Band are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year and are celebrating it in true form with a live concert at The Paget Rooms on Friday, July 3.

The band formed at The Hollywood Club in Newport in 1990 and have gone on to share the bill with various names such as Van Morrison, Edwin Starr, Jools Holland and many others and have performed at venues as diverse as The Marquee Club and The Café Royal.

They have worked in Germany, Cairo, Dublin, Tenerife and all across the UK but are more often found entertaining audiences around their South Wales base.

Big Mac’s have always specialised in high power up-tempo soul classics from Motown, Stax and other labels and their repertoire is firmly rooted in the 60’s heyday of that genre. "We’ve always believed in sticking to material we, as fans ourselves, enjoy and have made a point of avoiding what is simply the flavour of the month or pursuing the club and cabaret circuit…and I think it shows" said Mike ‘Big Mac’ McNamara, lead singer and frontman for the group.

The current line-up have recently recorded a brand new album at Rockfield studios in Monmouth specifically for their ‘Silver Anniversary’ which should be available to buy on the night of the show.

Tickets for the event are £12 in advance and are available from Foxys Deli (Penarth), Spillers Records (Cardiff), seetickets.com or globalpromotionscardiff.com.
