AN inspiring and eclectic group of eight gardens in Dinas Powys will be opening for the National Gardens Scheme.

Attractions include a garden based on permaculture principles, using perennials, shrubs and edibles together.

There are ponds of all sizes and styles, planting in shade and sun, boggy areas, pergolas, child friendly attractions, a caravan and summerhouse, mature shrubs and trees, vegetables and fruit, challenging terraced designs and wild areas.

Lovely homemade teas (gluten free available) will be served and there are many restful and beautiful areas to sit and relax. Plants sales are also an attraction.

Some of the gardens will be open on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday 5 or on one of the dates from noon until 5.30pm. Combined admission is £4 and children are free.

The eight gardens involved will be: 1 Ashgrove (open both dates), Brookleigh (open both dates), The Huntsman Restaurant (open July 5), 32 Longmeadow Drive (open July 5), 32 Millbrook Road (open both dates), 30 Millbrook Road (open both dates), The Pound (open both dates) and West Cliff (open both dates).

On Sunday, July 5 a group of three 1930's suburban gardens will open for the scheme. Each one of the Cyncoed Gardens has its own individual style.

They have been designed by the owner and are continually evolving to create an eclectic collection of climber, perennials and shrubs that reflect the interests of these gardeners. Garden structures and summerhouses are used to add interest and to create different viewpoints over the gardens. All are within walking distance from each other.

The gardens will be open from noon until 6pm with combined admission of £3 with children free. Homemade teas will be available.

The three gardens in the group are: 8 Cyncoed Crescent, 22 Dan y Coed Road and Kinsley.
