THE incredible Barry Steele, one of the world’s leading tributes to Roy Orbison, will be performing at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry on March 21.

Barry Steele is a very unassuming man with a great sense of humour, but above all he has an incredible talent.

He is so convincing in his role as Roy Orbison that many have wondered if he is miming.

Barry has toured the globe as Roy Orbison and first began singing songs from artistes Michael Jackson, Wet Wet Wet and Chris Rhea when he was a long distance lorry driver.

It was only when Barry Steele was on holiday that he began his journey to becoming a professional singer.

His wife Lynne and daughter Leonie entered him into a singing competition without his knowledge.

It was there that a fellow competitor said to him: “You know you sound just like Roy Orbison singing Robbie Williams.” Then with the help of family and friends a tribute to The Big ‘O’ was born.

Barry quickly became totally enveloped in the music and sheer magic that was Roy Orbison, his aim was simple, his vision clear, to deliver the songs to Roy Orbison fans in the same manner in which they were originally performed.

The show is a contemporary production, celebrating the life and musical legacy of the Big O.

Barry is backed in this all live multi-media show, with not only a fabulous band, but a big screen featuring both live streaming, and images from the life and times of Roy Orbison, interspersed with factoids and information about the life and times of what is considered to be one of the best singers the world has ever known.

Joining Barry will be Paul Molloy as a young Elvis and Boogie Williams as Jerry Lee Lewis.
