Having released their debut album, Bonnie & Clyde, to much acclaim in April this year, frequently touring Cambridge-based band Fred’s House recently released their Christmas single.

A joyously warm and festive four minutes, Christmas at Home finds the band continue to nurture their own personal brand of folk and classic rock, this time with an added yuletide twist.

“We never set out to record a Christmas single as such; we just happened to write a song about how difficult it was when we didn’t see our families for quite a few years at Christmas, yet all we wanted was to spend the big day with them,” explained co-singer/songwriter Griff Jameson who hails from Ebbw Vale.

“See, we were both working on pantos, Griff never actually saw his family four Christmases in a row,” added his fiancée, and also songwriting partner/vocalist Vikki Gavin.

It’s been a sensational year for the Cambridge five-piece. With their debut album becoming a hit with both fans and critics alike, 2014 has seen them tour all over the UK taking in venues everywhere from Stroud to Cardiff to Derby, including a host of established festivals and frequently selling out in their hometown.

Not one to rest on their success, the band – which also features lead guitarist Lachlan Golder, bassist Gafyn Jameson and drummer Paul Richards, have already started studio sessions for their second album.

In the meantime, both new listeners and their ever-expanding audience can enjoy Christmas at Home, a welcome addition to the band’s already outstanding repertoire.

Christmas at Home by Fred’s House is available on the Cracking Tunes label.
