THIS December the Welsh Tenor, Wynne Evans, will bring Christmas cheer to the St David’s Hall, Cardiff on Thursday, December 18.

Wynne will lead the audience in a seasonal selection box of treats, with wonderful music that the whole family will enjoy.

Carmarthen-born Wynne Evans is a familiar face from his career as a leading opera singer, and also from a series of well-known TV commercials. A familiar voice on BBC Radio Wales, he also presents Wynne Evans’ Big Welsh Weekend on Friday afternoons, a round-up of everything going on around Wales each weekend.

Wynne Evans said: “I’m really looking forward to joining the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for this year’s Christmas Celebrations concerts. They are guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and get you well and truly in the festive mood. The concert will have a few surprises and is fun for the whole family. I urge the audience to come wearing their Christmas jumpers, and be ready to sing and laugh.”

With conductor Edwin Outwater on the podium, these jam-packed family concerts will conjure the magic of the festive season, including Do You Want to Build a Snowman from the smash-hit film Frozen. There’s also an exciting journey through snowy lands with Prokofiev’s Troika; beautiful music from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker; and John Rutter’s heart-warming Star Carol. With Wynne in charge, however, there are bound to be plenty of surprises and treats in store throughout the concert.

BBC National Chorus of Wales will be leading the singing in Cardiff, joined on by the young singers of Caerphilly Children’s Choir.

Audiences will even have an opportunity to join in with the music-making, as everyone will be invited to sing along with a medley of favourite festive songs. As the concert closes, the sleigh bells will come out as the Orchestra performs Leroy Anderson’s Christmas classic, Sleigh Ride.

Tickets for the show are available on the BBC National Orchestra of Wales Audience Line on 0800 052 1812. There are no booking or postage fees when buying tickets through the Audience Line.

Alternatively tickets can be bought through the St David’s Hall box office on 02920 878444 or online at stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk, booking through the venue is subject to a £2.95 Ticket Service Charge.

The concert will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio Wales over the Christmas period.
