EVERYMAN Theatre’s new production of the fiercely anti-war play ‘Oh What a Lovely War’ is at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff from November 11-15.

Humour and song are used to expose the horror of life in the trenches in the biting musical satire.

Sketches and musical hall songs show how the hunger of the ruling classes to turn a profit led to millions of deaths and wiped out a generation of young men.

Director Jackie Hurley said: “Unfortunately we don’t seem to have learnt much in the 100 years that have passed since the outbreak of World War One.

“War and the destruction it brings are still very much with us in the 21 century.

“Oh What A Lovely War has lost none of its bite since it was first staged by Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop in 1963.

“We have created a truly ensemble production which doesn’t pull its punches. Although it’s darkly comic, you’ll also have a tear in your eye.”

Tickets to see the show cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions on Tuesday, November 11 and Thursday, November 13 only.
