ART Central Barry is hosting touring exhibition “Journey: Response to Place” by Sculpture Cymru, featuring some of the most established sculptors in Wales.

The 12 artists involved in the exhibition created pieces in response to a place in the Welsh landscape that has a significant meaning to them. These sculptural pieces were then placed into the environment and photographed.

This has resulted in a rich and diverse exhibition including not only sculpture but also sketches, paintings, photographs and written word.

Tracey Harding the Vale’s arts development officer and manager of the gallery said: “We are delighted to be hosting this spectacular exhibition of work by Sculpture Cymru.

“It is a really exciting exhibition by these individual artists and definitely an exhibition for all to visit.”

The exhibition is on show in Art Central gallery until Saturday, November 8 and offers an array of exciting artworks including a lifesize figure carved from wood, giant ceramic land sculptures and a mix of wall hung, carved and caste art works.

The Gallery is open to the public, from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and entry is free.
