THE line-up has been completed for this year’s Sherman Theatre’s Free Foyer Session which takes place on Saturday, September 6. HMS Morris, Totem Terrors and Cardiff’s Joy Collective round out the selection of quality bands and DJ’s for the event.

HMS Morris are a three piece band made up of lead singer Heledd Watkins (formerly of Emmy the Great), and Sam and Wil Roberts Mwsog and Wilma Sands) each bringing their own distinctive style to bear on HMS Morris’s unique twang.

Little over a year ago, Heledd Watkins was on finger picking duties as bass player for the much gentler singer songwriter Emmy the Great. But fancying her chances, she moved on to take the reins as front woman of this noisier, home grown band and in the process catching the attention of Huw Stephens and earning praise from the London blogsphere in the process.

Totem Terrors will be another fantastic band to catch who are formerly two thirds of the spam-unfriendly Joy of Sex. Made up of Max Hicks and Rosie Smith their music style is for fans of Wire, Prinzhorn Dance School and films where the hero dies face down in an icy puddle.

Between the great bands expected at the free Foyer Session local Cardiff promoters Joy Collective will be spinning records for the music audience to enjoy.

For over a year, Sherman Theatre has been curating the Free Foyer Sessions which has allowed emerging and established local musicians to perform in an established venue in Cardiff. Its gives them the opportunity to try out their sound and style to new and existing audiences.

Doors to the event will open at 7.30pm with the first act coming on for 8pm. Just turn up, no need for tickets or booking.
