DON’T miss the only Welsh appearance by Jungle Brothers as they perform at The Globe, Cardiff. Joining them will be DJ Jaffa and Mansfield Green when they play on Friday, September 26.

New York’s alternative hip-hop merchants are characterised as being laid-back, have a funky style, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and effortless flow. Jungle Brothers are one of the greatest acts to emerge from the hugely celebrated 80s New York hip-hop scene.

They are famed for pioneering the fusion of jazz and hip-hop, as well as being the first east coast rap group to embrace the use of a house music producer.

Their 1989 charting track I’ll House You - a late addition to their already groundbreaking debut album Straight Out The Jungle - was the first hip-house record to be released outside the Chicago scene, and drastically changed the way the hip-hop and dance music industries worked.

Also adept DJs and producers themselves, Jungle Brothers have been frequent collaborators with contemporaries like Queen Latifah, Monie Love, De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, in addition to notching up 7 more critically acclaimed albums to follow the potency of their first.

Local support will be from selecters Cardiff’s DJ Jaffa and Bristolian Mansfield Green.

Tickets to the show cost £18 each and are available online from seetickets at www.seetickets.com or from The Globe at www.globecardiffmusic.com/tickets.
