THERE are plenty of great shows taking place this year at Wales Millennium Centre with musicals, drama performances and dance and circus shows.

A musical highlight to look out for is the performance of The Lion King, starting on November 6 and running until January 11, 2015. The Lion King will form part of the Centre’s tenth anniversary celebrations and follows the much loved story of Simba and his journey from cub to king of the pridelands.

The Centre’s drama highlight is The Frozen Scream, running from December 11 until December 20. The Frozen Scream will offer a unique, alternative performance in the Weston Studio, which showcases some of the best of small-scale theatre from Wales and beyond. The show promises to hold the audience’s captive in fear and suspense as it recounts the tale of a spine-chilling murder.

The Wales Millennium Centre has a number of opera and classical performances coming up and some of the highlights include Prokofiev: Betrothal in a Monastery on November 2, Rachmininov: Vespers on November, 6, Liberty or Death! running from September 12 until November 29 and a series of Afternoon Concerts running throughout September and December.

They will also be featuring dance and circus from across the world which makes up the ever eclectic programme at the Centre. From October 22 until October 25 Lord of the Flies will be performed by Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Ballet Company. The show stars talented young dancers scouted from across Wales, these youngsters will dance alongside the exceptional New Adventures cast.

Then the acclaimed dance company Grupo Corpo will bring their Brazilian Carnival to Wales when they perform on October 14 and 15.
