VALE MP Alun Cairns will continue his marathon charity effort on Thursday by hosting a coffee morning.

Mr Cairns, who will run the Virgin Money London Marathon later this month, will host the event at Age Concern on Holton Rd, Barry, to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Ty Hapus.

He recently worked a shift at the Marie Curie shop pricing up items and sorting through new donations.

He said both causes were close to his heart, having seen family members affected by both cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

The coffee morning runs from 10.30am, with the £1.50 entrance fee including a cuppa and a Welsh cake.

Mr Cairns said: “Everyone is welcome at what will be a thoroughly enjoyable event. The work that these charities do is first class and I’m delighted that my role as an MP gives me an opportunity to help worthy causes such as these. Please do pop in for a chat on the day.”
