LAST-MINUTE changes to the team, and a late departure from Barry, were not ideal preparations for last Saturday's visit to Tylorstown.
And the Rhondda side, although currently languishing near the bottom of the division, took full advantage to gain their second win of the season.
On a sodden pitch and with a winter chill in the air, the first quarter of the match was fairly nondescript with the hosts kicking two penalty goals to a single Barry penalty.
However, the second quarter belonged to Tylorstown who, by taking full advantage of some sloppy play and poor defence, were able to cross for three tries.
These, together with two successful conversions and a penalty goal, gave the home side a 30-3 half-time lead.
The second half saw an improved Barry performance, and by tightening their defence and cutting down on handling errors, they were able to restrict Tylorstown to a penalty goal and converted try.
Tries by James Madden and Dave Provis and an Andrew Griffith conversion brought some respectability to the final score for Barry - defeat by 41pts to 17.
Barry's next fixture is on Friday, November 25, at Pentyrch in a rescheduled league match, ko 7.15pm. On Saturday, December 3, they travel to Narberth for a WRU Konica-Minolta Cup match, ko 2.30pm.
