Skipping for Ethan

TODDLER Ethan Herbert got an egg-stra Easter surprise when a Barry family dropped off nearly 200 raised during a sponsored skip.

Julie Mees and her children Joseph, 12, and Cerys, eight, visited the two-year-old at his home in George Street, Barry, on Friday, and handed over the cash raised before Christmas to Ethan s mum, Vicky.

Sister Ellie, six, participated in the skipping, but was unable to visit Ethan, due to illness.

Ethan, who suffers from cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus, featured in the Barry and District News last year after readers raised and donated hundreds of pounds to purchase a mini wheelchair for him.

Ethan, who is nearly three but still wears baby-sized clothing, has had the chair for the last few months which has been enormously beneficial to him, enabling to interact better with the other children at his playgroup.

Mum-of-three Vicky said: Ethan can play a bit better with the other children as he can now get around on his wheelchair.

He s a slow developer emotionally and physically, but he s so sociable and likes to see and know what everyone around him is doing. And he really likes to make people laugh!

I can t believe how kind people have been to him.

It really restores your faith in humanity.

Vicky has set up a fund for her son. There will always be something he needs, she said.
