Pleasure Park: Rumours untrue

RUMOURS that Barry Island Pleasure Park is to be sold off for development have been strongly denied by the owners.

A spokesman said: There are no such plans and the Barry Island Pleasure Park will continue to trade for the foreseeable future.

It was late to open at Easter, but we have this year put a considerable investment into improving the park cosmetically and upgrading many rides.

The Pleasure Park is owned by Ian Rogers, the man behind the Hyper Value Group.

David Rees, Head of Marketing & Leisure for Hyper Value, added: We re sorry that many of the rides will be opening later this year than in previous years, however the Health and Safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us, and a decision was taken to ensure all rides were inspected thoroughly - and exceeded all of the inspectors safety requirements.

The Dolphin Bar, KR s Cabaret & Party Bar and the park will remain open as they always have done.

Jackie Rogers, Director, said: I m sure many people, like me, hope the Pleasure Park will be here for many years to come.

The park will be open this Bank Holiday. For full details visit www.barryisland.com
