Meet Barry's Ambassador!

COMMONWEALTH gold medallist David Davies continues to make a splash out of the pool after being bestowed with a prestigious Barry town honour.

David has become the town's first Ambassador, receiving the honour at a civic reception yesterday at the Memorial Hall.

Town mayor Cllr Theo Stenstrom said: "Something special has happened today.

"When I switch on the television, I hear 'David Davies from Barry'.

"He has done so much for Barry and I'm proud to say that he has been an ambassador of Barry."

David, named the first Ambassador by the organisation Pride in Barry, said he had been "overwhelmed" by the response of the people of the town to his success in the water.
