Pedestrians

MAY I through the columns of your newspaper draw attention to a dilemma for pedestrians on the Waterfront?

Motorists going to the retail park to stock up with food for their bellies, other essential items and making use of the dock bypass (Millennium Street) cause anguish.

It's nigh on impossible to negotiate the road. On times there's more than on a stretch of motorway. Crossing it is a chicken run.

To dodge traffic it's on your marks, hitch up skirts and do a four minute mile like Chris Chatterway to reach the water's edge - for non-athletes and the infirm it's a no-go area. Heads need knocking together!

We want a pedestrian right of way with zigzag lines and belisha beacons - there should have been inclusion of these without question during planning procedures. Colin Elston and concerned residents
