FOCHRIW 0
SULLY SPORTS 0
SULLY visited the heart of the Rhymney Valley for their South Wales League Division One match on Saturday. Fochriw greeted the team with a decent pitch, but freezing, blustery conditions which meant the game was never going to be a classic.
Sully created a few first-half chances, but the home keeper was in fine form and saved two goal-bound shots with his legs, with the rebounds to producing fruitless corners.
Sports' forwards struggled with the passes that did find them, and the half finished with the home side pressing.
With the result of great importance to Sports, they carved out a few chances, as first Lamb and then Fahiya went close.
The Sports' defence had to be alert as the wind was playing havoc with crosses as the home team pressed again.
A fine save from keeper Niblett from a defected header by his own defender was the closest Fochriw came to breaking the deadlock.
The game petered out, with the points shared after a tough game. Sports still need another point from their last game at home to Grange Albion on Saturday to be sure of the title, without having to rely on Bridgend Street to lose or draw one of their four remaining games.
Albion have bounced back from a poor start and are on a good run of form at present. Players to report at 12.45pm at Swanbridge for what the club hopes will be their finest day.

ST ATHAN 1
With the gale-force wind at their backs in the Vale of Glamorgan Premier League, St Athan started hesitantly and it was Sully who had the best of the early play.
The visitors took the lead on 32 minutes, when a goal kick was mistimed and went to Cleve, who scored.
Sports missed a sitter to level matters, and although with wind assistance they pegged the visitors back in the second period, they could not take advantage. The visitors were reduced to ten men near the end, but held on for the points.
The Premier team visit Rhoose on Saturday, kick-off 2.15pm.
