Think green for a good cause

A CHARITY is calling on Barry residents to go green and recycle old mobiles and ink cartridges to raise money for terminally ill youngsters.

Sully-based Ty Hafan has been lent the support of Land Phil Recycling Ltd, a scheme that exchanges old mobile phones and ink cartridges for cash, which is then poured back into charities and community projects.

Jenny Lewis, director of Land Phil Ltd, visited the Ty Hafan shop on High Street, Barry, to launch the scheme.

She met with 12-year-old dedicated Ty Hafan volunteer David Laland, and the pair demonstrated just how easy and fun it is to generate cash while disposing of useless waste items.

David, a pupil at St Richard Gwyn High School, has taken part in various fundraising events for Ty Hafan since his cousin spent time at the hospice, and he has vowed to drop all of his old ink cartridges into the recycling box.

Land Phil Recycl-ing boxes can be found at the 16 Ty Hafan shops across Wales.
