Use church

I AM writing in response to the report in the Barry & District News (March 9) on saving Windsor Road United Reform Church and Porth-kerry Methodist Church.

It saddens me to see the residents upset by what is happening.

Do they attend the churches on a regular basis, as they will miss the buildings so much?

Are they aware of how much money would be needed to keep these buildings going, not only with maintenance on the buildings themselves but electricity, gas and water bills?

Yes, the buildings are lovely to look at but if people don"t attend church and there isn"t enough money coming in to cover these costs, what else is to happen?

Perhaps the residents would prefer to see the buildings remain empty and unused and left to deteriorate, making them dangerous and unsightly for everyone?

Surely these residents know buildings, no matter how lovely, can"t go on forever without money being ploughed into them to keep them useable and looking wonderful.
