Davies tipped for gold Down Under

BARRY-born swimming star David Davies is widely tipped as one of the favourites for gold in the Melbourne Common-wealth Games, which began this week.

Life has taken on a very different stroke for 21-year-old David since he first splashed on to the global swimming scene following that 1500m freestyle final at the Athens Olympic Games.

His 2004 gargantuan tussle with Messrs Hackett and Jensen saw him snatch the bronze medal in sensational style.
