Man is banned from every pub in Barry

A BARRY man has been banned from every pub in Barry for two years, and given a suspended jail sentence for causing £990-worth of damage at a Barry pub and threatening a police officer.

Nicholas Lincoln, aged 27, of Maes Yr Ysgol, Barry, admitted damaging furniture and a window at The Royal public house on February 18.

He also admitted using threatening words or behaviour towards Pc Hughes on the same date.

For that offence he was sentenced to 130 days in prison, suspended for a year, and for the criminal damage he was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for a year.

Both terms will run concurrently.

Sentencing Lincoln at Barry on March 6, magistrates said the offences were "particularly threatening and frightening incidents towards bar staff and the police, aggravated by the defendant"s previous offending".

An Anti-Social Behaviour Order was also issued.

* enter any licenced premises in the borough of Barry, save for shops, for a period of two years;

* consume alcohol or be found drunk in a public place in the borough of Barry for two years;

* say or do anything that causes or is likely to cause harrassment, alarm or distress to any person in the borough of Barry, nor encourage or assist others to do so, for two years.

If Lincoln breaches the conditions of the order, he will be committing a criminal offence, which could bring the maximum penalty of five years imprisonment, a £5,000 fine, or both.

A previous Asbo imposed on July 21, 2004, was discharged.

He must also pay £990 compensation to S Williams of The Royal pub.

* If anyone becomes aware of a person breaching their Asbo conditions, then please contact Vale police on 01446 734451 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
