Woman is back in court

A 21-YEAR-OLD Barry woman who admitted stealing from her great-uncle was back in court this week, after she failed to keep appointments as part of her community punishment order.

Lyndsey Alana Jones, aged 21, of Kingsland Crescent, Barry, first appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last summer

She was given a supervision order with unpaid community work after admitting stealing her 90-year-old uncle's pension, but failed to keep some appointments.

At the time of the theft, Jones was being paid to clean by her great-uncle Alan Jones.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how the 90-year-old fell to the ground and hit his head against a chair as Jones took the wallet away.

She later took 60 from it and posted the wallet through his letter box.

She told the police she spent the money on food and alcohol.

Judge Christopher Llewellyn-Jones QC added another 20 hours' unpaid work to the previous 60 hours.

He said: "This was a thoroughly mean offence - I agree with a previous judge who described it as despicable."
