House battle

I REFER to your article last week concerning Cadoxton House and the good news that it had been thrown a "life-line".

When the "Friends of Cadoxton House" were formed it was agreed by all those interested in trying to save it, that we would not make a political football out of the situation and we would all work for the benefit of the community.

It is quite clear that the Lib Dems are only interested in trying to get a quick headline rather than take part in the serious work of actually trying to save Cadoxton House for the community and improve the facilities there.

For the record it was Cllr Neil Moore who had Cadoxton House referred to the Life Long Learning Committee, and gave it its chance of a "lifeline" and it was there that the majority of councillors voted to give Cadoxton House a repreive, however tentative.

Thanks must go to all of those councillors who supported the motion to have the issue of the Cabinet's proposal to sell off of Cadoxton House debated at Full Council.

Unfortunately, even if, at Full Council, we win the vote to give the Friends of Cadoxton House a three-month breathing space to put together a business plan, the battle is not over.

Even then the matter has to be referred back to the Cabinet, and they could still vote to sell it off.

This is a "Complicated Process" but unfortunately this is the way that Local Government now operates and how we have to deal with such matters.

I do hope that the "Friends of Cadoxton House" are successful in their bid, and I can assure your readers that I will not be walking away afterwards, as I am sure the Lib Dems will, when there are no quick headlines to be had.

Anne Moore

Councillor for Cadoc Ward
