BARRY 0
YNYSYBWL 17
JOHN Campbell return-ed to the pack for last Saturday's game after illness, while Ben Pritchard and Rhys Hardy were included in the back line, but Chris Cummings, the first choice kicker was unavailable because of sickness.
Barry have not had the best of records against the Bwl and in this season's away fixture the less said about their performance the better.
After only ten minutes, things looked ominous again, when from a five metre lineout Bwl created a spinning maul which led to a converted try.
There were no further scores in the half, which overall was a disappointment to Barry as they had most of the possession in attacking positions, but an indecisive final option or pass frequently saw moves break down.
It seemed to the home crowd - and much to their frustration - that Barry's infringements were invariably spotted by the referee while the opposition's transgressions often went unpunished.
However, the half-time score was the closest Barry had come to having a realistic chance of winning this fixture.
Despite exerting early forward pressure on the restart, Barry conceded an unconverted try out wide, but even then they had total belief in themselves and produced the effort to keep themselves in the hunt.
This became more difficult though in the last quarter when captain and outside-half Andy Griffiths succumbed to a first half ankle injury and had to leave the pitch.
Immediately his opposite number was able to exploit the reorganisation, and an unconverted try followed.
Matters were not helped when soon after flanker James Hadfield also had to depart through injury.
The Bwl were able to bring on fresh heavy weight forwards and the Barry scrum was put under enormous pressure on numerous occasions just five metres from the try line.
Credit to the forwards, particularly the front row of Stuart Hunt, Lewis Williams and James Hollister for preventing any further scores.
A great overall team effort against a side who have lost only once in the league this season.
If those little but crucial mistakes can just be overcome then the score board should start clicking again in Barry's favour, and the victories should return.
l There is no league game this Saturday, and the next fixture is away to Brecon on Saturday, March 4.
