A YOUNG Barry mum says she is being kept in the dark by the tax office who owe her in excess of 1,000 - money needed for her ten-month-old baby's welfare.
Nadia McGee, of Glanmore Crescent, says she has made an "unbelievable" amount of calls to the Inland Revenue who owe her the large sum of money in Child Tax Credit.
Nadia, 22, was homeless when her daughter Carys was born last March, and was not aware she could claim the money.
But now she is getting her life back on track, and knows the money would be extremely useful in giving her little daughter the best possible start in life.
"I keep on to the tax office, and they keep telling me'the money's on its way'. But I haven't seen it yet.
"It's really frustrating and the calls are so expensive. This money would be so useful, and I'm concerned about not getting it because it's such a large amount."
Nadia says she put in a claim for Child Tax Credit in July - when a friend told her she was eligible for it.
"Before I was told by my friend, I didn't have a clue I could claim it," she said.
Nadia is currently receiving a payment every week, but she is still waiting for March to July's money.
She insists she was categorically told by the tax office she would be receiving a back payment for that period.
