Dragons travel to Cwmbran for Welsh Ring of Champions

BARRY Dragons Tae Kwon Do Club started off the new year by travelling to Cwmbran Leisure Centre to take part in the Welsh Golden Ring of Champions event.

The tournament was hosted by the UTAW and the KKAW and was the first of six events to be held all over Wales.

European Champion Mollie Arbuthnot took first place in the first event, Traditional Patterns,with Cameron Davies coming third.

Cameron was soon back in action, taking first place in Creative Kata with team mate Tom Farmer in second.

Cameron also won the Weapons event and went on to take second place in Points Sparring and third in Continuous.

Tom Farmer was back in action to take first place in Points and third on Continuous Sparring.

Callum Harding kept up his good form to claim first place in Points and third in Continuous Sparring.

Sam Sturgess lost out in a close Points final as did Rhys Thomas who also took a third in Continuous.

Carys Thomas followed her brother by also taking second and third in these events.

Jace Hughes and Jadine Procope both lost out in hard fought Continuous finals, and Jadine also took a third place in Points.

Aaron Langmead, Ffion Thomas and Abigail Palfrey just finished outside the medals.

The Dragons are back at the new YMCA with training times as follows: Tuesdays, Millennium Centre 6pm to 8pm; Thursdays, YMCA 6pm to 8pm; Saturday, Millennium 11am to 12.30pm; YMCA 5pm to 7pm.
