War lament

A SOLDIER"S LAMENT

THAT Anthony Blair is a bloke that don"t care

He praises the troops with a lot of hot air

I came out to fight and do my little bit

I didn"t expect to land in this pit

I drive around Basra in my little tin can

And I wait for a bang that comes from Iran

Tony Blair, he just smiles for the massed TV screens

While I"m at the sharp end in this can of old beans

I"m told they want peace and an orderly life

But they kill one another and cause so much strife

They drive up to buildings with explosives on board

They think that their deed will bring reward

Our leader is supposed to be an intelligent man

But he took us to war with no definite plan

Saddam wasn"t trying to cause worldwide destruction

He was keeping a lid on mass insurrection

The rumour is that we will all leave next year

And with smiles departing we will all give a cheer

What worries me though is his last final plan

He"s packing us off to sweet Afghanistan

They say that this Blair wants his name down in history

But success in Iraq, that"s a bit of mystery

He will be remembered, but not well by me

As he"s taken some good uns to the old cemetery
