THE Vale of Glamorgan is set to benefit from a major investment in local transport schemes.
Andrew Davies, Minister for Economic Development and
Transport, yesterday unveiled a £0.7m investment in transport schemes across the Vale, as part of a £125 million funding package to improve Wales" transport infrastructure.
As part of the Welsh Assembly Government"s Transport Grant settlement for 2006-07, the Minister has announced the following investments in the Vale:
*£0.5 million for the construction of a roundabout at the Merrie Harrier and Cardiff Road bus lane scheme
* £50,000 for Barry Central Station
* £163,000 for a Safe Routes to School scheme at Sir Richard Gwyn Comprehensive school
* £35,000 for a Safe Routes to School scheme for Rhoose Primary School.
Andrew Davies said: "I am delighted to announce this major investment in transport schemes for the Vale of Glamorgan and throughout Wales.
Today"s announcement demonstrates our commitment to investing in our transport networks, and improving local transport services for the people of the Vale of Glamorgan."
