Risky parking

QUITE some months ago I had occasion to write a letter to the Barry & District News regarding the inconsiderate parents/guardians who continually place our children"s lives at risk by parking outside Romilly Junior and Infant schools.

I would now like to express my delight at the presence of police officers and traffic wardens, who have to patrol the road outside the school just to move these people on when they break the highway laws and park on the yellow zig zag and double yellow lines.

But how much are these people costing the police authority?

They have to use the resources available to them, ie the police officers, to continually stop these stupid parents from parking directly outside the school gate.

Unless these parents/ guardians are brought to justice and are hit in their pocket and their licence, we will continue to witness these lazy people putting our children"s lives at risk just for the sake of having to walk a couple of hundred yards from a safe parking spot to the school gate.

Let"s see these people booked and brought before the courts and shamed in the local press so everyone will know who they are. With continual offenders having their driving license suspended under the points system, then they will have to walk.

Better that than have to grieve for a lost child or parent who is hit by a motor vehicle around the busy junction at Romilly Schools.
