A BARRY man who stabbed his own son was jailed for 21 months yesterday.
Pensioner Richard McCauley, aged 65, stabbed son Anthony, aged 42, after a late-night argument at his home.
Cardiff Crown Court heard Anthony arrived at his father's house in St Andrew's Road in the early hours of the morning, and was annoyed that his 12-year-old sister was still up.
Prosecutor Daniel Williams said: "It was an argument that escalated from a trivial complaint.
"Anthony taunted his father and McCauley's response was a terrible over-reaction.
"McCauley went to the kitchen and picked up a knife. Anthony goaded him saying'Go on, stab me'.
"McCauley lunged and the knife plunged into his son's chest.
"The whole incident was witnessed by the 12-year-old."
Police arrived and found McCauley in the kitchen. He told them: "He's my son and I stabbed him. Here's the knife."
Anthony suffered a punctured lung and was rushed to hospital but has made a full recovery. He told police: "I was drunk and I was out of order."
