NELL"S Point has already been desecrated and destroyed, and if Friar"s Point does not receive some TLC and urgent attention from the Vale of Glamorgan Council, then it is in danger of going the same way.
There are several matters that need urgent attention.
If barriers are not placed soon to prevent off-road vehicles, like quads and motorbikes, gaining access to the grassy area along and around the bushes there will be no grass left by the spring.
The deterioration in this area over the last few weeks is appalling and must be halted.
Why does the council persist in replacing the wooden slats on the benches which provide ideal tinder for nightly exploits. These are constantly being smashed!
There are heavy plastic ones further along the Point and these are never touched!
There is a stretch of 50 yards of pathway which is still waiting to be surfaced since the last operations there some 10 years ago.
This gets flooded and so forces people to walk either side of the main pathway and the consequent erosion is drastic and unsightly.
The last refuse-bin is at the top of the path from the beach and consequently the rubbish at the Point is disgusting.
This is not helped by the fact that the council cleans no further than the site of the last bin.
It would be very nice to see the last remaining headland in Barry being tended and nurtured for all present and future generations to enjoy.
Perhaps the newly appointed officer of the coastal area might start her portfolio here with this project - and pressure from a local AM would be much-welcomed.
