Nativity plea

IS there anyone out there, church-goer or otherwise, who would be willing to help with an adult nativity play with a difference for 2006?

I need adults to take on roles, from the director to the tea-maker.

What is different about the play?

How did Mary react when she found herself pregnant?

Like most teenage girls she had to tell her parents. Can you imagine Mum"s reaction?

How did Joseph cope until he had his dream and what about Mary"s parents" reaction to his change of heart?

What about the elders of the village?

God speaks to prophets not teenage girls.

Why did the couple have to travel all the way to Bethlehem for Jesus" birth? It was Joseph"s home town.

He must have had uncles and aunts, cousins there. People who knew him as a boy yet no-one would take him in - why?

Fifty or so years ago our own society wasn"t so far removed from all that. But the Bible doesn"t speak of those things.

Yet Mary and Joseph would have had to face all the ridicule.

The play will have the usual angel visits Mary, the trip to Bethlehem, the inn, the stable, shepherds, wise men etc, but it will try to get behind the reality of a young teenage woman having a baby while still claiming to be a virgin.

Would you like to help? Write to me at the address below.
