A MULTI-million pound centre, which promises to be quite literally a "hub" of activity, has opened its doors to the public.
The Hub, a major extension of the YMCA building on Glad-stone Road, is aimed at providing a range of educational, sporting, health and recreational facilities for Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The centre also includes a dedicated day unit for adults with learning disabilities, and will host community organisations and charities.
Vale AM Jane Hutt commended the YMCA for securing the 2.7 million needed for the centre.
"I want to congratulate the Barry YMCA on all their hard work to bring this important new community facility to fruition," she said.
"I know that it will be of great benefit to the many members of our community who will use it."
The project received substantial funding from the Welsh Assembly Government, Welsh European Fund Office, The Big Lottery Fund and the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
