Father faces jail for stabbing

A BARRY man is facing jail after stabbing his son after an argument.

Richard McCauley, aged 65, admitted plunging a knife into his son Anthony, aged 42, after a domestic row turned violent.

McCauley, of St Andrew's Road, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.

He was bailed for sentence next month, but was told a custodial sentence could be likely.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to a more serious charge of wounding with intent, which would have seen him face trial before a jury.

But the crown was prepared to drop the charge because he admitted to the lesser charge on the full prosecution facts.

No details of the stabbing were given in court on Monday, but Anthony's serious injury was referred to.

Medical documents will be put before the sentencing judge.
