MASTER MARINER 9
CADOXTON IMPS 2
GARETH Griffith inspired Master Mariner with four goals as they humbled Cadoxton Imps 9-2 in the Vale of Glamorgan Premier League. Other goals came from Ozzy (2), Stumpy (2) and Dave Allan.
Imps were under the cosh right from the off and Mariners were in front as early as the fifth minute.
Mariners were in irresistible form and continued to pile forward. In the tenth minute, Gazza scored with an outstanding overhead kick, good enough for Goal of the Season. At 3-1, the Imps were keen for the half-time whistle.
In the second half the Imps were in disarray and Mariners were in the mood to take full advantage.
Imps scored a consolation goal late on in the half, and Mariners could have scored more, if it had not been for some fine saves by the Cadoxton keeper.
CARDIFF AIRPORT 2
MASTER MARINER 2
Master Mariner were outplayed in this Division One match and should have lost their unbeaten record to a strong Airport side.
Mariners took the lead early on after a corner was headed home by Paul Lewis. The Airport pushed hard and were rewarded with a well-taken goal.
Some poor defending by the Mariner resulted in the ball ending in the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Airport were on top of their game and ripped Mariner apart in all areas to take a deserved lead.
Mariner came out fighting in the second period and Spencer Bennett came on to net the equaliser.
It was a poor performance by the Mariners and they were lucky to come away with a point.
The managers would like to thank the two referees for their excellent performances in both these games.
