Teenager is a step closer

A TEENAGER from Barry was awarded with a certificate by Gwent Dragons player, Jonathan Bryant, for coming a step closer to achieving her NVQ.

Florence Sam, aged 16, from Cross Street, was among a group of eight to be presented with a certificate from the Pacific Institute as part of the Cardiff ITEC awards ceremony.

Cardiff ITEC is one of the largest training providers in South East Wales, offering a range of lifelong learning programmes for more than 300 individuals.

The organisation works with Protectagroup, Wales largest independent insurance brokers.

Linda Haggett, human resources director of Protectagroup said: Everyone who completes vocational training - whether it s a placement or preparation for an NVQ, deserves recognition.

Florence and the other students have done themselves proud and we wanted to mark the occasion with a special awards ceremony to give the young people the recognition they deserve for their hard work and achievements.

Florence is working towards an NVQ in Childcare and is preparing for a placement at a local nursery.

Since joining Cardiff ITEC, she has completed a key skills course as well as an English as a Second Language course at the Open Learning Centre in Barry.
