Festive crafts gain maximum exposure

MAXIMUM Exposure Limit Artist Studios, exhibition space and community workshops, presented their celebration of Christmas crafts recently.

It was a collaboration of glass, textiles, ceramics, Christmas decorations, and floral design. All the craft artists that attended were from the local area, such artists as Jay Bee Jewellery, and the new floral creation from High Street, Barry, who presented flora design.

Local exhibitors were Paul Baker and Richard O'Connerly both members of the Vale of Glamorgan artists, and up-and-coming artist Dean Christopher, an abstract painter from the local area.

Schools and organisations took part in a ceramic Christmas tree competition, which proved to be an excellent creative success. Palmerston Primary School, Ceri's Kindergarten Cadoxton, and BIPS afterschool club, all received a voucher to attend the new ceramic glazing studio to be launched in January.

It was a fantastic success with lots of visitors; the ceramic glazing studio was open, providing the local community with lots of festive Christmas activity.

There was a surprise visit from local vocal artist Jamie Shaw, who kindly judged the most creative Christmas tree.

Zak Brown from BIPS afterschool club was chosen and will receive not only a special art gift, but from Jamie himself a single and photograph.

Jamie is currently launching his new album.

Mel Forse, studio co-ordinator said: "I would like to thank all the local schools, organisations, artists and crafts people who took part it was a wonderful success and proves what a creative cultural town we all live in."

The Ceramic Glazing Studio launches in January, and is open to people from all walks of life to learn new artistic skills and techniques, with specialist days and workshops arranged.
