Daisy comes home

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Barry girl got the best Christmas present ever when her runaway rabbit was returned home safe and sound.

Chloe Hall's seven-month-old rabbit Daisy (a boy) disappeared from his hutch two weeks ago, leaving the Palmerston Primary pupil absolutely devastated.

Chloe's mum, Kerri, said: "I thought Daisy was gone for good."

But Daisy was not lost. In fact, the adventurous pet was temporarily living in a hutch and being cared for in Barry resident Janice Casault's back garden.

Janice's son, Jid, had discovered Daisy wandering on Coldbrook Road East when he was walking back from the pub last Saturday night. Jid took Daisy back to his mum's home, and the next day Janice contacted Sully-based SHUA (Safe House for Unwanted Animals). SHUA lent Janice a hutch, water bottle, straw and food.

Janice was determined to find Daisy's (or Hip Hop, as he was fondly named in the Casault household) rightful owner, so she placed an appeal in last week's Barry and District News.

One of Kerri Hall's neighbour's spotted the appeal in the newspaper, which asked for the owner of a "male, average-sized, in good health and straight-eared" rabbit to come forward, and told Kerri, who was frantic to track down her devastated daughter's rabbit.
