SPECIAL needs pupils from Ysgol Maes Dyfan in Barry had a'tree'-mendous time when they joined Dwr Cymru Welsh Water to celebrate National Tree Week.
The company took part in National Tree Week with themed activities and a donation of a tree to every school, which visited their Cog Moors Environmental Education Centre near Dinas Powys.
Rachel Jones, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's full-time seconded teacher, said: "The National Tree Week activities provide a fantastic opportunity for children with special educational needs to experience the local natural environment first hand.
"At the Cog Moors Centre, visiting groups have taken part in tree related activities, including a woodland walk, making Christmas cards, tree decorations and bird feeders.
"Also, each school was given a Christmas tree to plant in their school grounds.
"This is the third year that we have taken part in this national celebration of trees and woods, and to mark the start of the planting season.
"It is very much a fun experience for the children, but also a reminder of the need to care for the environment."
Ysgol Maes Dyfan teacher Miss Sian Davey said: "We had a lovely afternoon.
"The children enjoyed it and the activities were well suited to all ages and abilities that were in the group. We hope to visit again."
