Identical feelings

IDENTICAL twins share a unique bond.

But for Natalie and Samantha Davies the relationship is even more special - because the sisters were the only set of identical siblings born in Wales on Christmas Day, 1984.

And the bond even led to one sister experiencing pain as the other went into labour.

This Christmas Natalie and Samantha, with the rest of their Barry family, will be reflecting on the past 21 years.

The twins were born to mum Josie at St David's Hospital in Cardiff. They are sisters to Paul, aged 30, and Joseph, aged 15.

Natalie said: "Mum had her hands full, but I think she loved having a big family!

"She used to dress us in the same outfits - pink dresses with lots of frills. It was nice when we were younger, but we hated it as we got older."

Samantha and Natalie attended Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School, Samantha leaving to become a hairdresser and Natalie a chef.

Natalie, who lives with her mum on Winston Road, is the head chef at Cubanas Bar and Grill on High Street, and Samantha is currently a full time mum to two-year-old Jayden and six-week-old Celyn. She lives on Upper Guthrie Street with boyfriend Kiel Smart.

Natalie said that although she had never been admitted to hospital before, just before her sister went into labour with her son, she started to have pains similar to those of "a woman just about to give birth".

The twins believe their sibling bond is tightened by the fact they were the only set of identical Welsh twins born on the day.
